SEVEN NIGHTS OF SUNSET, MILKY WAY, DEEP-SKY AROUND THE ORION CONSTELLATION & AURORA PHOTOGRAPHY (four types of photography!)
This will be a very FULL workshop with even the opportunity to learn how to use your Star Tracker if you have one! MaryBeth and I can teach you how to setup efficiently, nail your polar alignment and some best practices when capturing and post-processing.
1 to 4 Instructor Student Ratio!
WIth MaryBeth and Myself with only 8 participants. We are going to easily spend LOADS of time at everyone's tripod giving hands on, mask wearing covid-free instruction! You will not lack for a chance to speak to MaryBeth or myself the entire week and will enjoy the best Instructor to Student ratio my workshops currently offer!
Your Tuition covers ALL TRANSPORTATION!
So you don't need to worry about driving or spending money gas. The entire workshop is pulling together and helping cover all of that. We will rent two 5-passenger Ford F150s that MaryBeth and I will drive so that everyone can sit comfortably and sleep along the way or take in the cool sights!
There are several options out there. The itinerary below will guide you on which location we will be sleeping at so you can find your favorite option. The only change that will be coming towards the end of August is a decision that we will make with the group that signs up on whether we group up for a shared AirBNB for any of the nights. That will be decided after talking to those that sign up over the next two weeks.
ITINERARY & INFO FROM MARYBETH:
While our goal is to see and capture the Northern Lights, please note that they are largely unpredictable. As such, we want this to be as much about the adventure and experience as learning photography. On that note, the times listed can be subject to change based on the Aurora forecast that day. Please be prepared! Regardless of the Aurora, you will still learn tips and tricks for night photography, as we will capture the night sky and Orion, too!
November in Northern Michigan can be quite unpredictable. We may have a foot of snow, or none at all. As a general rule, please be prepared for cold weather. Bring snow boots, a heavy jacket, snow pants, gloves, ice cleats (for waterfall areas), and chemical warmers. As one who has done a lot of photography in the cold, it is better to come prepared than be underprepared!
